Parafilm is a thin, flexible material that is used to seal petri dishes and other laboratory containers. Parafilm is made of a mixture of polyethylene and wax and has several advantages compared to other sealing materials, such as tape or plastic film. It forms a sleek seal that is resistant to moisture and chemicals and is easy to apply and remove. We offer the 5 cm wide variant per 10 meters.

Parafilm is an essential item in every microbiological laboratory. It is used to seal breeding plates and tubes, preventing contamination of cultures by external organisms and at the same time gas exchange is possible. Parafilm is also an effective barrier against evaporation and spilling. It is ideal for:
  • Sealing of petri dishes
  • Packing cups
  • Covering laboratory equipment
  • Preventing evaporation
  • Protect samples against contaminants
Parafilm is easy to use. Press the parafilm on the surface to be sealed and stretch it around the edge of your petri dish or pot/cup. Due to the warmth of your hand, the parafilm will become soft and form a good closure. Make sure the surface is clean and dry before applying parafilm. This gives the best results.
