You can grow shiitake yourself on trunks with wood plugs in front Lentinula Edodes, better known as Shiitake. This mushroom is doing very well on deciduous trees. The only thing you need at the breeding are these dowels, a drill, fresh trunks and some space in your backyard.
We recommend using the wood plugs as soon as possible after delivery. Shiitake is best vaccinated in the spring, but grafting is also possible later in the year. Drill holes in the tree trunk - slightly deeper than the length of the plug - with a mutual distance of 10 cm and hit the plugs in the wood. After grafting it is important that you seal the plugs with grafting wax, so that the plugs can slowly transfer their Mycelium to the trunk without losing moisture. Therefore, do not expect a harvest in the first year; It really needs time. The fun can start the summer!
We recommend using the plug spawn as soon as possible after delivery, whereby 5 plugs per tree (strain) are recommended with an intermediate distance of 10 cm. The birch wood mycelium plugs for Shiitake are manufactured in a sterile laboratory and are extremely suitable for starting the Shiitake culture itself. The wood plugs are supplied per amount ordered in a sterile filter bag.
