Suppose you don't drink coffee or you want to grow other types of mushrooms such as Lion's Mane or Shiitake that do not grow on coffee grounds. Many other species such as Lion's Mane and Shiitake do better on a mix of hardwood and additives, better known as Masters Mix. Always make sure that you do not use a spruce or cedar wood, because these have the natural characteristic to prevent fungi.

How do you grow mushrooms on sawdust?

Supplies

  • Oyster mushroom grow set (or a plastic bag)
  • Masters Mix or your own mixture of hardwood pellets and wheat seal
  • A large (quick -cooking) pan
  • A clean spoon or latex gloves
  • 6 cups of hot water
  • At least 50 grams of brood

Performance

  1. Prepare substrate
    1. You use our Masters Mix Including Autoclaafbak? Then add 6 cups of warm water to the container and leave a corner of the lid up.
    2. Own mixture? Then use the 6-5-1 ratio (6 cups of water on 5 cups of hardwood pellets and 1 cup of wheat seal). Other compositions for your own masters mix are of course also possible.
  2. Stir until all pellets are under water and wait half an hour.
  3. Cook the substrate for 3 hours in the high -pressure pan.
  4. Allow the mixture to cool for 12 hours into room temperature.
  5. Now mix your breed through the mixture with a spoon or latex gloves.
  6. Put the whole in a grow set* or a plastic bag*
  7. Place the grow set in a place with the right conditions. With our types of brood we mention the most ideal conditions for the best results on our website.
*When using a grow set, cover the holes with our breathable tape. Do you use a plastic bag? Then prick three times with a fork holes in the bag on both sides.
